Rigo Marmi for M4 Milan

Metropolitana M4

- Milan

18,000 sq m of public surfaces in natural stone

Milan’s new M4 Line is one of the most significant infrastructure projects in contemporary Italy. Designed to support more sustainable urban mobility, it connects Linate Airport to the city center through an extensive network of stations integrated into the metropolitan fabric. In this setting, Rigo Marmi oversaw the exterior paving of the main stations, tackling a large-scale project of high logistical complexity.

Infrastructure that speaks the language of stone

  • Total surface area: more than 18,000 sq m of pedestrian paving and exterior claddings, distributed around the station entrances.
  • Material used: Gris Quintana granite, selected for its high mechanical strength, chromatic consistency, and low maintenance requirements — ideal characteristics for heavily trafficked public settings.

Urban space and infrastructure in continuity

The areas involved include squares and outdoor routes, such as Piazza Tricolore, where natural stone becomes the connecting element between the technical infrastructure and the surrounding urban landscape. The project ensures a consistent reading of the public spaces, with precise attention to usability, safety, and aesthetic quality.
